Hey. Sometimes a girl needs to know how many people stop by to visit.

'Ashton House' by  Richard Cuerden

Hmm, what else. Oh, yeah! So...

-- Scanwiches is a weblog dedicated to showcase scans of sandwishes for education and delight. Yum!

-- Folks, apparently I have reached bloggebrity. Ha!

-- MacGyver's ultimate multitool! The only tool you'll ever need (click image to biggify).

-- 'Natural Viagra' ice cream and 100 other Frightening Ice Cream Flavors from around the world (mostly from Japan).

-- There's something seriously wrong about this. (Click unless you have really good eyes)

-- The humorous story of a city called Crapstone. No, seriously.

-- "Dad sells $90 video game for $9000 after catching son smoking pot." ... And for smoking pot you are now sentenced to a Winnie The Poo for Christmas.

Only on Wikipedia...

-- My mom bought me a small potted plant over the weekend (which will soon die since plants don’t like me, but that’s okay). Therefore instead of a Christmas tree this year, I threw some lights at it and called it a day.

This doesn't mean I don't have the Christmas spirit?!

-- I discovered this cute video of a cat eating (and loving) broccoli. Guys, apparently this is like the next catnip. I sent it to my best friend PiB and told her she should try this with her cat. Maybe the green stuff effect will be the same. If so, she’ll soon be shooting her own ‘Cat Broccoli’ porno. PiB is on vacation now but we she comes back, she’ll tell me all about the action that was ‘PiB scooping out the litter box the morning after’. Good times.

-- I've seen this sign at the subway several times in the Big Apple, but I don't understand it quite well. If I'm sick, the last thing I want to do is take the subway. Therefore if I'm on it, it's because I HAVE to be, don't you think? (Click on the image for maxi-view)

-- This is by far the dumbest political analysis I've ever read since the Presidential elections. Fox News, please cover real stories.

-- Australian scientists published last Friday that people with dementia can't detect sarcasm. Researchers at the University of New South Wales are using it to diagnose dementia.

'Sarcasm may be the lowest form of wit.' - the author said.

... I could have told you that!

-- Free wireless Internet nationwide would be awesome. I mean, why not? The airwaves are owned by all of us.

-- Gee, thank you USPS.

-- iGod, I mean iPhone, has failed to find buyers in India. According to the International Business Times, India is the second largest cellphone market in the world, selling close to 10 million phones a month. So far only 12,000 Apple iPhone 3Gs have been sold. Go figure.

-- According to the Technorati 2008 State of the Blogosphere, of the 133 million blogs the site tracks only 7.4 million have been updated in the last 120 days. That translates to 125.6 million abandoned (or at least unloved) blogs. Interesting.

-- So Starbuck’s profits dropped 97% in the 4th quarter. Curious... I thought we would be drinking more coffee for those sleepless nights during the economy crisis.

-- I watched a very interesting PBS show on Fractals the other night. I was in front of the tele like a magnet from beginning to end. I love shows that explain cool mathematical things.

Oh, and it doesn't require cable.

-- Oh, my eyes! My eyes! Back in the horror of the seventies, the Apple company released their first logo. Yeap, you guessed right: it's Newton sitting under an apple tree.

-- Seriously? I cannot believe an Ebay auction recently closed offering a teeny, tiny massless mass of transparent color (if you consider that a color) called the Higgs Boson particle.  This unseen particle was shipped directly at light speed to the US from a lab in Switzerland. The end of the world is coming sooner if we continue like this! Well, at least the money is was for a charitable cause.

Featured Artist: Daniel Peci

"Dreaming" 5 X 7 Oil on Canvas on Panel

Daniel Peci is a very talented artist residing and working in Los Angeles, California. His artwork has been exhibited in group and golo shows across the United States and Europe.

A few days ago I spotted Daniel Peci’s blog A Painting a Day, and began to observe his tremendous talent and dedication. He posts one new painting daily meaning that he really has to work fast every day… even on vacation. I love his color palette, his drawings, and his subtle strokes. There’s a certain simplicity and complexity about his artwork that is quite pleasant.

So my admiration for his work made me ask Mr. Peci a few questions:

The Pompomist: How long have you been painting/drawing, Mr. Peci?

Daniel Peci: I think I was born with a brush, at least with a virtual one at that time, I was drawing since I was around 5 or 6 as far as I can remember, these were some odd drawings involving numbers for some reason which I'm not really aware of (could be a code).

TP: What kind of paint do you normally use?

Daniel Peci: I only use oil paints when I paint: Royal Talens or Rubens usually, I like to draw with charcoals or pastels or a combination of both, I feel these mediums give me the freedom that's necessary for my work.

TP: How would you describe your style?

Daniel Peci: The term I would use to describe my style is Contemporary Realism; my art is a way of describing the world that I live in, the present with all the implications and complexities of living a life in this moment in this particular time.

TP: What do you typically draw/paint? And why?

Daniel Peci: The question of the subject matter is tricky, sometimes I can't be certain if I choose the subject ot the subject chose me, sometimes I look for clues for my next painting and very often it just strikes me out of nowhere, I would say emotions are my subjects, in each painting portrayed differently, whatever the theme is, if its a nude, a portrait or a still life, I try to convey an emotion through my work.

TP: What inspired you to have a blog?

Daniel Peci: My Blog started as means of an (im)personal visual diary that follows my progress as an artist and a communication with a broader audience that wasn't really possible until recently, I think this model is new and breaks boundaries through new technologies that are evolving constantly, for me that means you could ignore or them or use them as a tool. On the blog I try to post one painting per day, small works that are done in one or two sittings, this helps me develop my technique on a daily basis and push my envelope as an artist.

TP: Is your artwork for purchase? If so, where?

Daniel Peci: Most of my work is for sale, the small pieces are usually listed on my blog A Painting A Day that are either available on eBay auction or for direct purchase. Some of my larger paintings are listed on my website www.danielpeci.com

Many Thanks to Daniel Peci.

His work is quite beautiful. The palate is dark & muted, but there is a certain clinging to life feel to them I really like.
